Report: Tourism for All Workshop in Thailand (15-18 Sep. 2019)

The ASEAN-Japan Centre co-organized the “ASEAN Plus Three Tourism for All Workshop 2019” with the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, Thailand on 15-18 September 2019 in Pattaya City, Thailand.

The Tourism for All Workshop aimed to promote accessible tourism in the ASEAN Member States and had over 90 participants from tourism related government as well as private sectors including students.

In the workshop, Mr. Akiie Ninomiya, the Advisor to Asia-Pacific Development Center on Disability delivered a key note address on “Sustainable and Accessible Tourism: Past, Present and Future”, followed by the presentation on architecture facilitation for disability tourists made by an architect, Mr. Joseph Kwan.  H.E. Mr. Weerasak Kowsurat, a member of the Thai Senate and former Tourism and Sports Minister introduced the situation of accessible tourism in Thailand. 

The workshop also had a sharing session by travel agencies.  Ms. Mina Koabayashi from Kinki Nippon Tourist Kansai Co., Ltd. introduced their experience of developing package tours for people with dialysis, and Mr. Antony Leopold of Ace Altair Travels Sdn. Bhd., Malaysia shared the situation of accessible tourism in Malaysia.
